OMG Socially Minded is dedicated to creating content that calls attention to the social issues and real lives of artists and influencers who reflect the ever evolving world around us. This includes challenging topics reflecting the world’s social, political and lifestyle concerns as well as profiles on artists and tastemakers who reflect pop culture interests today. We tell compelling stories that make a big impact. Our directing/producing/writing team brings their filmmaking and journalistic backgrounds to every project to create intimate, emotionally powerful work. We embrace stories dedicated to making change. With topics ranging from social conditions to music documentaries, we’re committed to creating content that reflect our world – one story at a time. Our work is optimized for a range of digital platforms including film, television, short format content for the web, social and mobile.

 

Kathlyn Horan

director/writer/producer.

Kathlyn is the cofounder of The IF Project and has worked as a director, producer and photographer for over 15 years. Her work includes producing and directing several documentaries and PSA’s. She co-directed ‘A Voice for Choice,’ documenting the pro-choice March for Women’s Lives in 2004. The feature-length film includes interviews with politicians, activists and artists such as Hillary Clinton, Gloria Steinem, Sheryl Crow, and Bill Maher. Most recently, she produced two award winning short films: ‘Past Due’ for the AFI Directing Workshop for Women and ‘The Lull Breaker’ for the Toronto International Film Festival Talent Lab. She is currently working on a feature length documentary about The IF Project that tells the story of the unlikely partnership between a cop and a convict as they work to together to break the cycle of incarceration.

Leslie Owen

director/producer.

Through the power of the cinematic lens, Leslie has always enjoyed the process of giving a voice to an idea or population that would otherwise not have one.   As a filmmaker, she has enjoyed traveling around the world shooting documentary projects for personal journalistic pursuits and for various clients around the world ranging from celebrity musicians to some of the worlds most respected non-profit organizations. Most recently, the documentary “Haiti: Where Did the Money Go?” (PBS) which she executive produced and DP’d won the prestigious Edward R Murrow Award in 2013 for Best Television News Documentary among many other accolades.
